Irving Independent School District’s 9-12 Schools and Student Support Services division will be able to further serve district families, thanks to the donation of a restored SUV this week. Horace Mann, Service King Collision Repair Centers and Copart USA collaborated to giveaway a 2017 Toyota 4Runner SUV to benefit students of the Dallas-Fort Worth area school district.
Service King teammates from the company's East Irving location volunteered their time, skill and weekends to restore the SUV to like-new condition in time for the giveaway - which took place Dec. 14.
“We are so grateful for the partnership of Horace Mann,” said Irving ISD Superintendent Jose L. Parra, Ed.D. “Their generosity will strengthen our ability to support student programs and provide off-site assistance to families in need. With this donation, our staff will have another resource to utilize without the worry of costs often associated with buses and personal transportation.”
Service King has called the Dallas-Fort Worth community home for more than 40 years. In 2016, the company restored and donated 40 vehicles across the country in a single weekend to commemorate its 40th anniversary.
District staff will use the SUV to transport small student groups for extracurricular activities and to reach students and families affected by crises and homelessness.
