Across the U.S., there are currently an estimated half a million unemployed U.S. Armed Forces veterans - all actively looking for work. It's a staggering figure, and one that hit close to home for many Service King teammates. Together, we knew there was something we could do to help put an end to this tragic reality for so many heroes.

In May, it was that statistic that gave life to our Mission 2 Hire program,  a commitment to hire 500 veterans and family members at Service King locations across the U.S. in the next five years. It was also that challenge that led our teammates to Alexandrea, Va. last week to officially join the Military Spouse Employment Partnership program. Joining this partnership is yet another step towards providing rewarding career choices to our nation's heroes.

Service King now joins forces with more than 290 partnering organizations in alleviating the reported 26 percent unemployment rate and 25 percent wage gap faced by our military spouses nationwide. The MSEP is backed by the U.S. Department of Defense, and is a program that continues to grow each year. Since launching in 2011, it has already helped provide careers to 75,000 military spouses across the country.

After Service King representatives joined the official induction ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center, we're excited to help add to that incredible figure.

Service King is honored to stand up for military families that have already stood up for so many of us in fighting for our freedoms and liberties - the very things that allow us to chase our own dreams and careers.

Veterans and family members interested in career opportunities at Service King are encouraged to visit Mission2Hire.careers where we've made it easy to match existing skillsets with positions at more than 250 collision repair centers across 23 states in the U.S.
