Service King acquires the 5 Stores of B & B Body and Paint

Service King Collision Repair Howdy Austin border=October 31, 2011 – Today, Service King Collision Repair Centers, a Texas-based operator of high-quality collision repair facilities in the Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston and San Antonio markets, has acquired B & B Body and Paint, a leading provider of collision repair services in Austin, San Marcos and Leander, Texas. B & B currently operates five large scale, high volume collision centers. The addition of B &B Body and Paint positions Service King as the largest independently and employee owned collision repair organization in the U.S. With 47 Texas locations throughout Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston, Service King can now serve 70% of the $1.5 billion total collision market in Texas.

In 1976 Eddie Lennox, Chairman and CEO of Service King, bought a small tin shack in west Dallas, complete with a hand painted sign that read, "Service King." One of his earliest employees was a young man still in high school, Craig Van Cleve. "I took notice of Craig's tremendous entrepreneurial spirit and in 1979 I sold him his first shop in downtown Dallas," said Eddie Lennox. In 1981 Craig's brother Kyle joined and helped Craig's Collision Centers grow to six locations in the DFW metroplex. In 2002, Craig and, Kyle Van Cleve, acquired B & B locations in Austin and have grown it to include locations in Round Rock, Leander and a new South I-35 location.

Eddie Lennox stated, "My son Jeremy Lennox was 1 year old when I started Service King, now he is the Vice President that will lead the Austin market and as this circle between us and Craig is complete."

"The acquisition of B & B Body and Paint allows us to start serving the people of South Austin, North Austin, San Marcos, Round Rock and Leander, Texas," said Service King's Vice President of the Austin market, Jeremy Lennox. "We're thrilled about the addition of B & B's talented employees and skilled technicians to our base of over 1,400 Service King Teammates throughout Texas," added Lennox.

"We are very excited about B & B Body and Paint joining the Service King Team," stated Craig Van Cleve, B & B Body and Paint's owner. "For the past thirty two years, our success has been driven by our unrelenting focus on complete satisfaction and respect for our customers and employees," added Van Cleve. "Service King will continue on with these same core values."

Cathy Bonner, President of Service King stated, "At the five B & B locations we offer Service King's renowned level of friendly and professional customer service. The quality of work by highly skilled and expertly trained body technicians and painters carries a lifetime guarantee. In DFW and Houston, Service King is known as one of the "best places to work", by the Dallas Business Journal, and we plan to bring our same level of health, retirement, and career benefits to all new teammates in Austin."

"The reason Service King is the largest employee-owned collision repair center in the United States is because the people in this company care about their customers and the trauma they go through after a collision. At Service King we don't just fix wrecked cars; we help make people's lives easier. And we do it with a team that puts their hands and their hearts completely into their work always taking pride in the service we give and the company that we own."

"From The Employee's Perspective"

"Every year, the Dallas Business Journal recognizes the best places to work in North Texas with an awards luncheon and special publication. Employees of the recognized companies attend the casual and festive event to cheer on their company as the rankings are announced. The annual publication gives insight on what makes these companies great – from their employees' perspectives. It also offers insight about attracting and retaining qualified employees." Read more: Best Places to Work – Dallas Business Journal

'From the employee's persepectives', they said.

Our team members voted us the second best place to work in the city of Dallas because they wanted to. Our ranking had nothing to do with how many cars we fixed this year, or what our profit margins look like, or even how much charity we'd done.

This was a simple question of whether or not we treat our team members well and whether we hired the most qualified employees. Think about that. Not only do we have the most adept team members but they're actually happy where they work. Those are some tough conditions, my friend. Yet, somehow, we rose to the top in a city of two and a half million people and beat those conditions. We clobbered them. Why? Because if happiness isn't at the top of our to-do list, what's the point?

We'd like to thank our wonderful team members for allowing us to be one of the best to work for in Dallas. You did this for us. YouM did this for us. We're humbled and grateful. We cannot thank you enough.

Business Provides Some Fun For Fire Victims

Service King Collision Repair Toys border=TOMBALL—Despite a few rain showers, Service King Collision on State Highway 249 tried its best to provide some fun and food for those affected by the Magnolia fire at their Wildfire Relief Carnival Saturday afternoon.

Complete with a petting zoo, face painting, and a bounce house, Service King's Shyllo DeLaCruz said that the idea of the carnival was not to raise money, but to provide some emotional relief in the aftermath of the fires.

"We just wanted to do something good, have a place where people can come take their mind off fires and have fun," DeLaCruz said. "This has nothing to do with money, we footed the bill for this...I just asked my kids, 'If our house had been damaged, what would you want?', and they said a carnival."

DeLaCruz, in Service King's regional business development, set up a toy and school supply area for families to pick up things, and families could enjoy hot dogs, ice cream, snow cones and cake.

Rick Hodges, a Magnolia resident in the Timber Green area, said he didn't have to evacuate, but several friends had close calls with the fire.

"I have a friend who lived near 1488 West, and the fire was one property away from his house," Hodges said. "This kind of community outreach is great, all the volunteers, donations and events like this."

Hodges said the rain started about 15 minutes before the event, which may have dampened the event turnout but was welcome for the area.

"It started raining, and it was wonderful," Hodges said. "This is the real wildfire relief!"

Jeff Hibler, of the Klein area, said that a good friend lost his home in the fire, after spending years working on the home.

"He's been talking about this house eight years, and now it's all gone," Hibler said. "This is a good thing, so people can come and not think about their possessions, and kids can just have fun."

DeLaCruz said that Service King's mantra is "We don't just repair people's cars, we repair people's lives," and they've stayed true to that with charity work at their 48 locations across Texas. The Houston area usually gives money to charity through an annual golf tournament, DeLaCruz said, and this is the first time they've had a charity event at a shop.

"It's not just about doing repairs and making money, we care about the people," DeLaCruz said. "If we have an opportunity to give back, it's something we like to do."

Students will get to experience the effects of distracted driving

SafeWay Driving Centers - Teaming Up To Save Lives
http://www.safewaydriving.com
DALLAS – April 5, 2011 – H. Grady Spruce High School Students will get to experience the effects of distracted driving, and the consequences, in a controlled environment using a NASCAR simulator that puts the students in the driver's seat. Service King Collision Repair Centers, a long time supporter of the school, Nationwide Insurance and NASCAR driver, Brad Coleman have teamed up to help educate students on the dangers of distracted driving where students will be provided with a cell phone during the session to see how they handle the car, along with the incoming texts.

Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show the proportion of fatalities associated with distracted driving is on the rise, linked with 10 percent of traffic deaths in 2005 and 16 percent in 2009. This deadly trend is mirrored in Texas, where 100,000 distracted driving accidents were reported in 2009, resulting in 408 fatalities.

Service King President, Cathy Bonner, "We see the effects of distracted driving in our shops every day. This is business we don't want. We want to help improve the safety of our roads and neighborhoods that we live in and serve."

With the recent discussions about completely shutting down Spruce High School, due to low TAKS scores, Service King Owner, Eddie Lennox, who was a Spruce graduate in 1971, felt the need to do something to help the school continue. His plan started by creating a committee who would be responsible for finding a way to keep Spruce High School and its Auto Body Class open. That committee decided what would be necessary to keep the program running. They concluded that some of the necessities included tools, equipment, funding, and scholarships for those who will choose to attend college.

Human Resources Director, Mario Malacara works closely with the school to provide these kinds of educational opportunities. "Over the years Service King has had many success stories about teammates who started in entry level positions and have worked hard to become master technicians or Location Managers." "That's a message that we want to get through to the students. That this career path can be a very lucrative one." says Malacara.

Service King Collision Repair Centers was founded 33 years ago by Owner and CEO, Eddie Lennox with one location in Dallas, Texas. Now with 23 Dallas-Fort Worth locations, 9 Houston locations and 8 locations in San Antonio, Service King is the largest independently-owned and operated collision center business in the United States. Service King is a full service collision repair facility, specializing in customer service and quality repairs using leading edge technology. Operating hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Donated Car Gets Local Houston Family Going Again

Houston, December 15, 2010 — Service King Collision Repair Centers delivered a gleaming white Dodge Caravan to a local Houston family in an event at Service King's Southwest Freeway location today. The donation is part of a nationwide vehicle donation program called Recycled Rides, where a wrecked car is donated to a needy family after being repaired and refurbished by collision repair experts that also donate their time and materials.

The Houston's Area Women's Center identified Cassaundra as the recipient of the car donated by Esurance because of her success in overcoming her life obstacles. Cassaundra, a mother of two boys, is a survivor of domestic and sexual violence. She strives to be the person she wants to be and not the person her experiences and circumstances lead her to be for a period of time. She is dedicated to herself and committed to supporting others through peer support in hopes that one day they will understand they are not to blame for the abuse they suffered. Cassaundra will graduate from Houston Community College in May 2011 in auto mechanics. This donation is especially important to Cassaundra, as her car was recently stolen, along with the tools she uses for school.

"The Houston Area Women's Center helps individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence in their efforts to move their lives forward," stated President and CEO Rebecca White. "Lack of reliable transportation, especially in a city as large as Houston, is a major road block for survivors attempting to make a fresh and successful start to life. Service King's generous vehicle donation will certainly help this family on the road to a safer future."

Service King staff donated their time to restore the vehicle to safe and dependable condition. Partners and vendors of Service King including O'Reilly Auto Parts, Helfman Dodge, Wheel Technologies & LKQ/Keystone Automotive supplied parts and materials to completely refurbish the interior and repair the exterior of the 2006 Dodge Caravan.

"Service King has a big heart," states President, Cathy Bonner. "Our Service King family put their hands and their hearts to the task of helping this family. That's what the giving season is all about. This is a gift from our family to a well-deserving family in need."

Donated Car Gets Local Dallas Family Going Again

Service King Collision Repair Centers and Interfaith Housing Coalition join forces to donate recycled vehicle to family.

Dallas, TX (Vocus) November 22, 2010 - Service King Collision Repair Centers delivered a gleaming blue Chrysler Pacifica to the Imah family in an event at Service King's North Dallas location today. The donation is part of a nationwide vehicle donation program called Recycled Rides, where a wrecked car is donated to a needy family after being repaired and refurbished by collision repair experts that also donate their time and materials.

Interfaith Housing Coalition identified the Imah family as the recipients of the car donated by Travelers Insurance. Agnes Imah, a single parent supporting two children, hit a hard spot when she lost her job in 2009. She and her children, 18-year-old Crystal and 12 year-old Caleb, also lost the family car when it refused to run any more. In September, after taking a new job at an Irving communications company, the family moved into their own apartment in Richardson, near the children's schools. With the donation of this recycled automobile, Agnes solves the biggest challenge of her family…her three-hour daily commute between Richardson and Irving on buses.

"Service King has a big heart," states President, Cathy Bonner. "Our Service King family put their hands and their hearts to the task of helping the Imah family. That's what the giving season is all about. This is a gift from our family to the Imah family."

"Recycled Rides makes a definitive difference to a family," says Sherri Ansley, Executive Director of Interfaith Housing Coalition. "The Imah family is thrilled to have reliable transportation. They are a proud and determined family. The daughter is an academic scholarship student and University of Texas at Dallas and the son is active in his school activities. Now, Agnes can spend more time with her family and less time commuting so everyone benefits."

Service King staff donated their time to restore the vehicle to safe and dependable condition. Partners and vendors of Service King including Allen Samuels Dodge, AutoZone, O'Riley's, VMX, LKQ / Keystone, Service King Glass and DentWright supplied parts and materials to completely refurbish the interior and repair the exterior of the six year old car.

Service King Plans Nationwide Expansion

Dallas-based Service King plans to embark on an ambitious national expansion led by new president Cathy Bonner that could double revenue over the next five years.

The chain of collision-repair centers, founded in 1976 by company chairman Eddie Lennox, recently opened seven shops in Houston and the success of those centers – some were profitable after three months – prompted Lennox to consider the leap outside Texas.

Most of Service King's 31 shops and 1,000 employees are in the Dallas area. The privately held company, which says it has a 20 percent market share in the area, expects to repair about 70,000 vehicles and earn $150 million in revenue this year.
